Service vs. Product Marketing
Sydney expected a physical product to be easier to market than a service, but discovered the opposite challenge… You lose the ability to share transformation stories, testimonials, and results-based content that services naturally generate.
Iteration Is the Most Underestimated Part of Product Development
The Everyday Tear-Off went through months of design iterations before launch. Sydney's advice is to get it to "good enough to get real feedback," then launch because perfection kills momentum.
In-Person Marketing Is Underrated (and Coming Back)
Sydney found pop-ups and local community events generated faster, more authentic product feedback than online content. Face-to-face conversations with real customers are more potent than DMs and comments. There is so much real-time feedback!
Build in Quiet vs. Build in Public
One of the juicy parts of our conversation was about building public vs behind the scenes. Sydney talks about how not everyone should share their pivot or building process in real time. If external noise derails your vision, build quietly, document everything, and share the story after the fact. We talked about the quote, "Share the scar, not the wound."

We talked about the belief that you're either creative or strategic. The most inspiring entrepreneurs we know are both and the multi-hyphenate creative identity is becoming the norm, not the exception.

Rather than copying someone else's productivity system, Sydney focuses on identifying one key thing to accomplish each day. Her tear-off notepad is literally designed around how her brain works and it's a physical extension of her workflow philosophy.
Visibility Fatigue Is Real aka Turn Off Your Notifications
After a reel unexpectedly hit 15K views post-COVID, Sydney was overwhelmed. Her solution was no push notifications, batched messages, and we talked about the "post and ghost" mindset. Post your content and step away for a little bit. It’s not going anywhere.
Know Who to Go to for Advice
Not everyone in your life can be a strategic sounding board. Well-meaning family and friends offer validation, not direction. Know the difference between who can challenge you versus who can just cheer you on.
