Why Your Website Matters + ADHD Rituals for Business Owners with Sara Joelle
Dear Creator,
What if the confidence you’re searching for isn’t something you find but something you actually get to decide? I had the pleasure of talking to Sara Joelle who’s a website copywriter, marketing mentor and ADHD business owner but you might know her as “Website Girl” or “Spokesperson of the Squirrels”.
She spends her days writing website copy, recording the only podcast you don’t have to listen to on 2x speed, and plotting which story to tell in her next newsletter.
You can always count on her to yap with you! And that’s exactly what we did.
When you listen to this episode of Dear Creator, you’ll hear our conversation about claiming your identity before anyone else can define it for you.
Also how building a solid business and brand foundation is more important than an Instagram follower count. And even understanding how people with ADHD, an unconventional career path or radical authenticity aren’t obstacles but more so the things that make you unforgettable in the entrepreneurial space.
These are the key insights from the episode:
Confidence & Identity
Sara emphasized that confidence isn’t something you just find but it’s something you decide. You get to choose how you want to be perceived and act accordingly but the worst thing you can even do is worry about others see you. It’s irrelevant.
Though she identifies herself as “Website Girl” and her community now knows her as that, she’s the one who decided on that narrative herself.
These perspectives and insights have been shaped by her origin story of being the “DUFF” or the “designated ugly fat friend”. Her personality has really shaped and built her confidence over the years.
Business Foundation
Did you know your website matters more than your follower count?! A professional website makes you look legitimate even if you just started your Instagram. So that’s first thing first because without a website… potential clients may assume you just started your business rather than just your social media presence.
You don’t have to go all out to get a website up. At minimum, you can have a one-page website with who you are, what you do, who you serve, how you help and how to contact you. And once you’re ready to pivot your website, Sara’s your girl.

Marketing & Newsletter Strategy
If you’re in need of free resources to market your business or start writing copy for your brand, Sara’s blog has an entire library of tutorials. You can literally build a business for FREE just by reading her blog.
Speaking of marketing your business… Sara has a newsletter method that connects your personal stories to feelings then relate those feelings to actionable tips.
She does this in her weekly newsletter too! Tune in to the episode to hear why just sharing a life update bores your audience and how to re-engage your list after ghosting.
Running a Business with ADHD & Systems
Sara shares her holy grail ADHD hacks and you’ll want to write these down.
Tiny Tasks Till 10: Complete all sub-10-minute tasks before 10 AM to build momentum
Restart your day: Take a midday shower to reset when needed
Recreate plane productivity: Work in mildly uncomfortable places where you’re somewhat stuck (libraries, car dealerships, coffee shops with uncomfortable chairs)
Work with shoes on: Creates a mental boundary between work and relaxation
Eat healthy fats in morning: Combat decision fatigue with avocado toast, peanut butter, eggs with cheese
She even shares about how many hours and days she works on her business, meeting project deadlines and how to avoid procrastination.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re too much, too casual, or too scattered to build something successful—this episode is your permission slip to stop apologizing and start owning exactly who you are.
