Using Astrology and Self Trust During a Rebrand with Jess Ellen

Dear Creator,

There are a lot of moving parts that comes with rebranding a business you built — making decisions, asking for help, and trusting that what you choose to do next, is going to support your becoming. In this episode of Dear Creator, astrologer and integration coach Jess sits down to chat about exactly that and along the way, the conversation truly has so much wisdom and advice on trusting the process of business and life transitions.

Jess Ellen is an astrologer and integration coach who helps people make sense of who they are, where they are, and what's being asked of them in this season of life. Through a blend astrology and coaching, she helps clients move from overthinking and uncertainty to deeper clarity, self-trust, and aligned choice.

Key Insights

You're Never Not in the Middle

Jess opens by reframing something a lot of business owners quietly struggle with, which is the idea that you're supposed to eventually "arrive" and leave the messy middle behind. We talked about how you don’t really leave the cycle. There's always another process running in the background, whether it’s a launch, a shift, new project, or a season of change, even while you're wrapping up the last one.

That reframe matters because it takes the pressure off. If the messy middle is permanent, the goal isn't to escape it. You learn how to be in it well and show up for whatever part of the process you’re in. This replaces having to force yourself toward an ending that isn’t ready yet.

Your Moon Sign Is a Map for Change

I'm so glad I asked Jess, “What part of your chart should we look at when we are going through a pivot, rebrand, or transitional phase?” She suggests to look at your moon sign. Jess explains that your moon represents your emotional body, so the way you actually process life experience, separate from how you present to the world. Knowing its element (earth, water, air, fire) tells you what kind of support you need during a transition.

For someone with an earth moon, that might mean building in structure and giving yourself extra time before you feel ready to move. For a water moon, it might mean carving out quiet, private, restorative space. It's a small piece of self-knowledge that can completely change how you approach a hard season instead of pushing through the way you think you should, you can resource yourself the way you actually need to!

The Cost of Living in "Crunchy" Earth Energy

Jess and I dig into what she calls earth energy. It’s the sign of productivity, responsibility, and building and the two very different ways it can show up. On one end, it's grounded, present, and fulfilling. On the other, it's grinding, pressure-driven, and exhausting. As a sun in Capricorn, I shared how I feel the push and pull of these two energies a lot in my business and life.

The fix isn't working harder or forcing change, but balancing earth energy with the other elements like starting the day with something restful (water), doing the task that actually excites you first (fire), or simply following a spark of curiosity (air) before diving into the to-do list. That small sequencing shift , spark first, admin second, changes how the whole day feels, even when the tasks themselves don't change.

Learning to "Insource" Instead of Outsource Your Confidence

Jess's description of moving away from constantly seeking outside frameworks, coaches, and advice and learning to trust what she already knows was really relatable. She's candid about how much she learned from past coaches and consultants, and equally honest about the moment she realized she'd absorbed enough external input and needed space to actually apply it in her own way.

She calls this "insourcing" or making decisions that are self-sourced rather than externally prescribed. It might be a harder path because there's no one else to hand the responsibility to, but it's also the one that builds real self-trust. As she puts it, the goal isn't to abandon the part of you that's scared to go it alone. Acknowledge that fear, hold it, and choose to act anyway.

Celebrate the Small Wins

Both Jess and I land on something simple but easy to skip, which is celebrating small wins along the way, not just the big milestones. Whether it's tacking a "what I did today that reflects who I want to be" note onto your gratitude list, or simply pausing to notice growth the way a full moon invites you to, recognizing progress in real time is what builds the momentum and the self-trust — to keep going.

Rebranding as an Act of Self-Trust

By the end of our conversation, the rebrand itself becomes almost secondary to the bigger story… What it means to hand something over to someone you trust, sit in the discomfort of not being the one holding all the control, and let the process unfold at its own pace. Jess's advice to her past self says it best — you know a lot more than you think you do. (And I’ve also had to remind myself of this over the years!)

If you're in a pivot of your own, whether it's a rebrand, a new offer, or just a season that feels harder to name, this episode is a reminder that the middle isn't something to escape. When you’re in an evolution era, it’s where the real work and the real trust actually happens.
